Given that no one has any time anymore, it makes sense to seek out skincare that does multiple jobs at once. One product that fits this bill? Lisa Eldridge’s new Skin Enhancing Treatment Cleanser, a nourishing, balmy formula that doesn’t just do a cleanser’s primary job, which is to remove make-up and accumulated grime at the end of the day, but also acts as a face mask and massage treatment.
The formula works at speed, but it’s indulgent, too. With results akin to those from a professional facial, it leaves skin looking and feeling plump, healthy and dewy. “It’s a facial in a bottle, basically,” Eldridge, a celebrity make-up artist who works with everyone from Dua Lipa to Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman, tells me. “I wanted to create a cleanser without any of the typical ingredients that you use to wash your face, which is, you know, sulphates and stuff, and one that was 100 per cent biodegradable when washed down the sink.” An ingredient fanatic, Eldridge has harnessed the powers of some unique (and natural) extracts to get the job done well.

One is saponins, an ingredient that combines the leaves of the soapwort plant (originally used in Roman times) with quillaja tree wood extract to really gently but thoroughly clean the skin. Ceramide-rich oat kernel oil, hydrating glycerin, regenerative passionfruit seed oil and anti-inflammatory prickly pear oil are other key ingredients which work synergistically to strengthen the skin barrier, calm redness, lock in hydration and generally nourish the skin.

The formula is great for all skin types, including those that are super sensitive. With 98 per cent natural ingredients, it contains no fragrance or essential oils (both of which are known to irritate), making it an excellent all-rounder whether your skin is oily, dehydrated, dry or reactive. Given Eldridge’s day job, it makes sense that it is also second to none when it comes to removing all traces of make-up – stubborn mascara included.
“The clinical trials showed a 73 per cent increase in hydration and moisture for the whole day, not just after the formula comes off,” adds Eldridge. “I don’t need to use as much moisturiser as I used to. All you have to do is leave it on the skin for two minutes – so while you clean your teeth – and wash off. It’s phenomenal.” She also uses the cleanser as part of a good facial massage, as it lends slip while delivering its array of nutrient-rich ingredients into the skin.
“When I’m watching Succession at night, I have time to leave it on a bit longer and do a little massage, which is what my mum used to do when I was growing up. Two minutes is enough – you feel so plumped up – but if you do a bit longer, you feel like you’ve had the most incredible facial,” she says. “I do a butterfly type movement and then try and release any tension.” Truly a cleanser with benefits.
